Where's the green?

About a month ago the Prime Minister of Vietnam held a meeting with a group of experts and architects on the effective use of city’s parks and gardens. He stated that by 2020 he wanted 16 square meters of public green space per person. Currently, Ha Noi has.... 0.9 square meters per person and some districts within Ha Noi only have 0.05 square meters per person. It makes sense though because, despite a few pockets of the city with a couple of parks, Ha Noi is a concrete jungle. That's quite ridiculous considering that once you drive ten minutes out of the city the landscape is completely green and rural.

*Note: I must give credit where credit is due. I was inspired to write this blog entry last week when my colleague, Donny, informed me of this story and the stats last week. Sorry Donny!
