Just a few good things about today:
The HR/recruiting/marketing lady Dee said that she's been hearing really good things about me!
This morning I straightened my hair with my new hair straightener! I wore a new dress to work and in my first class my students said, "What happened? You look beautiful!!" I was like, "What about the other days?", but they didn't quite get it...they're only Elem2. I had a laugh about that. I've been looking like a ragamuffin ever since I arrived in Vietnam and apparently I wasn't the only one who thought so =)
I started a new two hour class on Tuesday and they're great! They do whatever I ask them to do and they love to talk, so it makes my job 100x easier and it makes the 2 hours go by so quickly! I had them again this evening and it was just a lot of fun.
Just as I was writing this blog entry I spotted a cockroach on one of my curtains. I ran downstairs to my landlords' apartment and tried to mimic a cockroach (???) so they would understand what I was trying to convey. They handed me a piece of paper and a pen so I could draw it, but to no avail they didn't understand. The lady came upstairs with me and I pointed it out. She laughed at me and told me the name in Vietnamese. I have already forgotten. "Cozon?" "Cagon?" I don't know. She grabbed a calender I had sitting on the fridge and bat at it. It fell off of the curtain and started to fly towards me. I shrieked and we both started to laugh. Eventually she killed it with my flip flop. As she walked out I kept saying, "Cam oon! Cam oon!" Thank you! Thank you!. Oh, Vietnam.
Oh yeah, here are some pictures of my apartment that I have promised.

Nice place. Maybe an area rug to complete it?!? Have you been to the merketplaces which sells textiles and noveltiy stuff? Maybe later when you get settled more, I was thinking you could get something for me. I'll pay you to export it all. hehe
Your apartment is great. Especially the plants on the balcony! Good luck with the "congián" problem.
Dude!!! That place is really pretty nice! I especially adore the balcony :D!
Way to slay the dreaded cockroach with your flip flop... though I would've paid to see you impersonate a cockroach :)~
... wait... how bad was that drawing that they couldn't tell it was a cockroach??!
Miss you, Jess!
